We welcome applications from students who1 in addition to the mandatory class attendance1 are willing and able to do a serious amount of independent work (watching a large number of films1 reading foreign language literature1 doing creative tasks at home)1 as well as willing to participate in film public and academic activities1 such as e.g. visiting and organizing film conferences1 festivals1 leading film clubs1 participating in workshops1 etc.

The film studies offers a general overview of the history and theory of film1 as well as critical understanding of the mechanisms and genres of popular film culture1 with an emphasis on academic and critical writing. Students become familiar with the different periods of Hungarian and world film history1 the different theoretical approaches of film studies and filmic genres1 and develop their skills of reading theoretical texts and interpreting films.
