Semiotics encompasses the general and specific subfields of the science of signs1 highlighting exciting knowledge that can provide an interpretive framework and method for understanding the most diverse phenomena of nature and culture. On the map of contemporary science1 semiotics occupies a recognized important place1 studies in this direction can be conducted at the world's famous universities1 and semiotics courses can be taken1 which as a whole provide interdisciplinary and synthesizing knowledge

The interdisciplinary Semiotics MA program at ELTE trains students to become well-trained specialists in semiotics of culture with a global overview of the various fields of humanities: literary studies1 linguistics1 philosophy1 visual arts and general art studies -- including approaches to the fine arts1 films1 theatre and music -- and also the most contemporary methods of research synthetized from a semiotic methodological point of view.
