Program Overview

The course was redesigned in 2010 after merger of two major food disciplines Dairy and Food Engineering and Post Harvest Engineering, aiming to disseminate knowledge and technical knowhow to agricultural/ mechanical/chemical/ biochemical/ food engineers for the applications of food process engineering principles and practices in industrial production of high value dairy and food products. To meet the technological demand of dairy and food processing industries, the students are trained in the fundamental of Food Chemistry and Microbiology, Dairy and Food Products and their Process Technologies, Advanced Thermal and Mechanical Operations in Food Processing, Fats and Oils Technology, Refrigeration Systems, Instrumentation and Process Control, Novel and Non-thermal Food Processing Technologies, Packaging and Quality Assurance. The students are also trained in mathematical modeling and simulation of various food processing operations for their optimized design.
