Mass communication is an area of study and practice which deals with the decimation of information to the masses at the local, national and international level, through the utilization of mass communication tools like internet, television, etc. It also encompasses radio, graphics, online media, and corporate communication under its ambit. Journalism, on the other hand, focuses more on reporting in regards to news and current affairs related information to the masses. Thus, unlike mass communication which focuses on the decimation of all kinds of information journalism is seen concentrated towards news reporting. Hence, it can be said that journalism happens to be a subset of mass communication.
