Program Overview

Language is an important phenomenon related to human nature. The linguistics as an empirical science is to study how this language has what structure, what functions, and how it is learned and used. Linguistics includes research in individual languages such as Japanese and English, as well as a wide range of fields such as phonology, grammar theory, semantics, and applied linguistics. Phonological theory studies the system and regularity of sound in language, and grammatical theory considers how words are combined to create sentences.
