Program Overview

Department Archeology was established in 1993, considering expanding the research of the northeastern part of the Mediterranean Region and the archaeological significance of the Lakes Region (Pisidia). Excavations, surveys and various projects developed by our instructors, to reach the upper levels of knowledge and interest, especially for Pisidian Archeology. Our department provides a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach and students are required to attend numismatic, Ancient Greek Language and Latin classes, except archeology courses. Our students have the opportunity to easily communicate with their friends and faculty members in the excavation, survey and numismatic laboratories in our department according to their interests and have the opportunity to improve their analysis and presentation skills as well as learning. Our department excavations are conducted in the Pisidia region, Seleukeia Sidera and Antiokheia Ancient city by our faculty members, and there are ongoing archaeological surveys in the region. Meanwhile our department members carry out various projects on pottery and non-Islamic coins in Isparta and Burdur Museums.
