Program Overview

This field of studies covers research, development and commercialization of products and processes which are halal compliant for the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. The areas covered in this study programme are development of halal products such as protein-based hydrolysates, halal enzymes and meat and meat-based products. The development of halal lipid-based materials will cover halal emulsifiers, fat and oil substitutes and halal specialty fats, while the development of processing aids are alternatives to using porcine enzymes and replacers to non-halal gelatins and other non-halal protein hydrolysates.
