The Master of Science in Building Technology are research programmes offered throughout the year. These programmes are offered as full-time and part-time modes to qualified Malaysian and international students to do independent research supervised by respective lecturers in various specialisations in the field of Building Technology.

The main objective of the programme is to train graduates with expertise in science and technology of building construction, infrastructure, building system and structure, materials technology, building services and maintenance, building control and automation, geotechnic and geosystem as well as building energy studies.

Candidates should hold a first degree with a minimum CGPA of 2.75/4 in any of the following: BSc. Housing, Building and Planning, Universiti Sains Malaysia; or Bachelor degree from Universiti Sains Malaysia or from other universities in related construction fields approved by Universiti Sains Malaysia such as Engineering, Architecture, Building, Planning, Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying; or Other academic or professional qualifications acceptable by USM, A minimum score of 35 in Internet-based TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) ; OR A minimum score of 5.0 in IELTS (International English Language Testing System); or A minimum score of 154 in Cambridge English Advance (CAE); or A minimum score of 154 in Cambridge Proficiency Advance (CPE); or A minimum score of 36 in Pearson Test of English (PTE); or English is the candidate's mother tongue or National Language;
