Program Overview

This field focuses on reproduction, management and animal welfare, prevention and control of diseases in laboratory animals including non-human primates used in research, and on important diseases, its prevention and treatment.This field also involves the development of precise and secure laboratory animal breeding and testing facilities using current methods and technologies such high biosafety level. Researches in this field are primarily in the production of animal models such as genetically modified and knockout species, diabetic and hyperlipidemic rats, and animals for special studies to include epilepsy and alzheimer s disease, development of specialised management systems for maintenance of animal models.
