Program Overview

The field of Molecular Medicine is established to expose students to utilise technologies of biochemistry and molecular genetics to conduct research in the areas of disease pathogenesis, diagnosis and management of diseases. Studies relating to the molecular mechanism of drug action are an integral part of this field to facilitate the discovery of new drugs with specific mechanisms of action. The diseases of interest include cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, diseases associated with microbial infection and neurodegenerative diseases. Graduates are able to contribute to research in the field of molecular medicine.
