Master in Physics

Research activities in this field focus on the fundamental properties of materials and related experimental techniques applicable in areas ranging from condense matter physics and molecular physics to nuclear and radiation physics and optics. The main research interest is on compound semiconductor materials (III-V semiconductors). The epitaxial growth (MOCVD), characterisation and electronic processes in the III-V semiconductor nanowires and devices are related to their use in nanotechnology, photovoltaic properties and optoelectronic applications. Other research activities focus on carbon nanostructures systems, in particular carbon nanotubes and graphitic nano fibres. The main interests are the preparation and processing of these novel materials, their properties and characterisations and materials functionalisation.
