Program Overview

The field of energy covers both fundamental and applied research that involve materials development and characterisation and development of technology for alternative energy, renewable energy and sustainable technology. In fundamental energy research, the study includes material processing, device fabrication technology within a cleanroom environment, such as nanowire solar cell design and characterisation. Other fundamental research areas are developments of chemical, optical and electronic properties of materials to optimize energy harvest or generations using those materials. The development of advanced materials for renewable energy is also a part of fundamental research of energy whereby research can be conducted on materials made from non-organic and organic materials, such as crystalline silicon, cadmium telluride and copper indium gallium selenide/sulfide.
