Program Overview

Graduates of the Master of Teaching (Primary) will have the knowledge and skills to be effective teachers of all learners, in particular those from priority student groups. They will meet the Education Council s Graduating Teacher Standards and therefore meet the requirements for registration and provisional certification in New Zealand. Graduates of this programme will be eligible to teach children from Year 1 to Year 8 (typically aged 5 to 13 years old). The programme is for high-achieving graduates from any discipline. It aims to develop beginning teachers who are efficacious, resilient, self-motivated and self-regulating professionals who are able to engage in inquiry into their own practice as well as collaborative practice with learners, colleagues, and parents, wh nau and caregivers within schools and within the wider community.
