The University of Auckland is the research-led university, known for the excellence of its teaching, its research, and its service to local, national and international communities. The university was established in 1883. The university comprises of 6 campuses, five are located in different parts of Auckland and one in Whangarei in the Northland Region.
The university comprises of 7 faculties: Faculty of Arts; Faculty of Creative Arts and Industries; Faculty of Education and Social Work; Faculty of Engineering; Faculty of Law; Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences; and Faculty of Science. The university also operates its Business School and research institutes.
The total student population at the University of Auckland is more than 33,000 students of which over 6,000 are international students. The University of Auckland is the only university from New Zealand which is ranked in the top-100 universities from across the world. The student to faculty ratio at the university is 15:1.
The University of Auckland has partnered with Study Group’s Auckland Foundation Year (AFY), which is designed to help students make a smooth transition into University of Auckland’s Bachelor's degree programmes. Auckland Foundation Year Courses include Standard Program, Intensive Program, and Pre-Foundation Program. With the successful completion of any of the Auckland Foundation Year Courses, the students are guaranteed (upon meeting university entry requirements) admission to the University.
