Program Overview

The Master of Science (MSc) is a two-year degree which encompasses both coursework and research. The first year involves mainly coursework and preliminary research preparation. Students will have the opportunity to contribute to existing fields of research, or to begin to develop new areas. Geographic Information Systems looks at how spatial information (data detailing the topographical position of objects), is captured, integrated, modelled and visualised. This includes areas such as satellite remote sensing, photographic techniques and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) along with information science.
