Program Overview

Orthopaedic surgery is the surgical specialty for the diagnosis and treatment of injuries, diseases, and congenital deformities of the musculoskeletal system. Orthopaedics therefore is concerned with disorders of the bones, joints, muscles, tendons, and nerves. It includes diseases of the upper limb, lower limb, vertebral column and bony pelvis.Orthopedic surgery or orthopedics, also spelled orthopaedic[s], is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.
