A society that is increasingly communicating in images and through images, and in which the image as an epistemological subject receives more and more importance, requires the sound education of critical image skills. The master's program Art History and Picture Theory intends to meet this challenge by focusing the subject of art history in its extension on questions of image theory. On the one hand, the degree program enables in-depth training in the broad field of the subject, on the other hand a specialization in the areas of Middle Ages and Medieval Reception , Early Modern Times , Modern , Image Theory and Visual History .

A bachelor's degree in the field of art history from the University of Basel or with proof of equivalent academic achievements, provided at a university recognized by the University of Basel, IELTS of 6.0, TOEFL ibT of 80, English language (level B2 or C1), Letter of Motivation, CV, German Language Proficiency.
