Program Overview

The language, literature and culture of Italy and Ticino make up a diverse and rich treasure that allows studying Italian to explore. The subject includes a literary and a linguistic part. The former consists of the philological and historical analysis of the literary text in poem or prose from Dante Alighieri to Vittorio Alfieri to Carlo Emilio Gadda. The study of Italian linguistics focuses on the written and oral communication language of the past and the present, from which the grammatical and textual aspects are observed. At the master's level, students can choose to study either exegesis and interpretation of literary texts or descriptive and theoretical linguistics.
