Master in Media Studies

Media Studies examines the structure and the transformation of the media from a historical as well as a systematic perspective. Its subject area covers the earliest forms of writing on letterpress printing, photography, film, radio and television to the digital media network of our information society. The focus is on the associated transformation of cultural forms of perception and knowledge, of social roles and media action patterns, as well as aesthetic representations. At the Master's level, relevant knowledge in cultural science and social science perspective will be extended and techniques of advanced scientific work will be learned within concrete research projects.
