Master in Jewish Studies

18 Months On Campus Masters Program

University of Basel

Program Overview

The Jewish Studies deal with the history, religion and culture of Jews and Judaism, with Basel's focus on modern and modern times. Depending on the chosen focus within the Jewish Studies, Master's students acquire the methodical and theoretical tools to handle religious-historical, historical or literary issues independently and critically. With regard to research-oriented studies, it is also important to deal interdisciplinary with perspectives and positions of other humanities subjects, especially the subject of theology. This is because a contextually oriented concept of Jewish studies takes into consideration the historical contact zones with the - usually majoritarian - non-Jewish environments.
