Program Overview

Reading, writing, arithmetic, painting, planning, designing, storing and coding are among our basic cultural techniques. But also deciding, judging and governing are practices that have a cultural function through the specific use of signs and technical artefacts. At the center of the interdisciplinary study program is the theoretical reflection and historical analysis of such cultural-technical actions and thus the significance of artefacts in social contexts. The program is a combination of the subjects of art and media studies and cooperates with other subjects of the Faculty of Humanities and Philosophy, including German studies, English studies and art history.

A bachelor s degree with 180 credit points from a higher education institution recognized by the University of Basel, IELTS of 6.0, TOEFL ibT of 80, English language (level B2 or C1), Letter of Motivation, CV, German Language Proficiency.
