The History Department was originally established in 1969, and then the night school was added in 1972 to recruit students. The Graduate School focuses upon Taiwanese history, Chinese history, and Western history. Emphasis is placed upon rigorous specialist training and fostering students ability to study independently; most importantly, it is not only to prepare the next generation of instructors, but to train talented individuals for future academic research.
