The MA Interior & Spatial Design at Camberwell College of Arts is all about exploring space in fresh, imaginative ways. It’s perfect for creative thinkers who want to experiment with installations, text, film, or other media to investigate how people experience interiors and environments.
Curriculum Structure
This full-time, 15-month programme takes you on a journey from discovery to delivery:
Unit 1: Discover and Define – You’ll start by reviewing your portfolio and exploring different ways of investigating space. Through observation exercises and research, you define your own project, considering social, environmental, and cultural contexts.
Unit 2: Define and Develop – Now you refine your approach. You experiment with practice-based work, focus your research, and produce a written paper that documents your evolving ideas.
Unit 3: Develop and Deliver – In the final stage, you bring your project to life. Whether through installation, film, text, or another medium, you produce a portfolio and research submission that situates your work in broader theoretical and global contexts.
Focus Areas
“experimental spatial practice, sensorial design, hybrid media, research-led interventions, social and environmental impact, concept-driven interiors”
Learning Outcomes
“graduates will be able to pursue independent research in spatial design, develop and present iterative practice-based projects, communicate ideas across multiple media, and critically evaluate the social, cultural, and environmental aspects of space”
