1 Year On Campus Masters Program
The Sheffield MBA is a transformative one-year experience designed to help motivated professionals step into leadership roles, switch industries, or launch their own business with confidence. Built around real projects, personalised career development, and world-class teaching, it suits ambitious individuals who want practical skills, global awareness, and strong professional credibility.
Curriculum Structure
Semester 1
Your MBA journey begins with hands-on learning through the Marketing Consultancy Challenge, where you work directly with real companies from the start. Alongside this, the Personal, Professional and Career Development module supports you in shaping your leadership identity, strengthening your communication, and building a clear career plan. You’ll also develop your foundation in business through modules such as Accounting & Financial Management, Managing Organisational Behaviour, and Operations Management, giving you a strong understanding of how organisations function from strategy to day-to-day operations.
Semester 2
In the second semester, the focus shifts toward strategy, digital transformation, and global decision-making. Modules like Global Managerial Economics and The Intelligent Organisation help you understand how economic forces, data, and technology shape modern business. You also get to test your entrepreneurial abilities through the New Venture Creation Challenge, where you and your team build a complete business idea—from research and feasibility to financial projections.
Capstone / Individual MBA Challenge
Your final stage is the Individual MBA Challenge, where you choose to complete either a traditional research dissertation or a company-based consultancy project. This is your chance to specialise, solve a real business problem, and create a standout portfolio piece that strengthens your career story.
Focus Areas
Leadership · Entrepreneurship · Consultancy · Strategic Management · Digital Transformation · New Venture Creation
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the programme, you’ll be able to lead teams confidently, design and deliver business strategies, make informed decisions using data and technology, develop entrepreneurial ventures, navigate international markets, and apply practical consulting skills to solve complex organisational challenges.
Professional Alignment (Accreditation)
The Sheffield MBA is delivered by a Triple Crown accredited business school (AMBA, EQUIS, AACSB) and is additionally aligned with CMI and CIMA, giving you global recognition and strong professional standing.
Reputation (Employability Rankings)
The MBA holds Tier One Global MBA status in CEO Magazine’s Global MBA Rankings, reflecting its strong industry relevance and student experience. The University of Sheffield’s Management School is globally respected and sits among the top business schools worldwide due to its rare Triple Crown accreditation.
The Sheffield MBA is built around one big idea: you learn best by doing. From the very first week, you’ll be out of the textbook world and working with real companies, solving real problems, and learning how to think and act like a leader. You’ll also study in the Management School’s modern, executive-style spaces, giving you the feel of a professional environment rather than a traditional classroom. Throughout the year, you’ll take part in company visits, workshops, mentoring, and study trips that bring business concepts to life and grow your confidence.
Here’s what that looks like in practice:
Marketing Consultancy Challenge: Work in a small team to help a real organisation tackle a genuine marketing challenge, meeting the client regularly and pitching your ideas directly to their leadership.
Internationalisation Challenge: Support a company exploring overseas expansion, giving you hands-on experience with global markets and international business strategy.
New Venture Creation Challenge: Develop a full business idea with your team—research, business model, finances, and investor pitch—supported by guidance from successful entrepreneurs.
Individual MBA Challenge: Choose between a research dissertation or a company-based consultancy project where you investigate a real organisational issue and propose actionable solutions.
Personal, Professional & Career Development (PPCD): Take part in workshops, industry talks, alumni mentoring sessions, and field visits that help you sharpen your leadership and career direction.
London Career Safari & International Study Trip: Enjoy an immersive career trip to London and an international study visit (recent cohorts travelled to Frankfurt and Mannheim) to gain global business insights and build your network.
Executive Facilities & Learning Spaces: Learn in the Management School’s executive suite—featuring modern technology, breakout rooms, and lecture theatres designed for interactive, discussion-based learning.
Graduating from the Sheffield MBA opens doors to a wide range of exciting roles. Many alumni step into positions such as Consultant, Project Manager, BusinessDevelopment Manager, or even venture into Entrepreneurship and Investment. Beyond job titles, the programme gives you the confidence, practical experience, and global network to make a real impact in whichever path you choose.
Here’s how the Sheffield MBA supports your career and future opportunities:
Dedicated Career Support: The Employability Hub provides one-on-one sessions with career consultants, employer workshops, CV and interview guidance, and personalised career planning.
Alumni and Postgraduate Support: Sheffield continues to support graduates long after they finish, giving access to resources, advice, and professional networking opportunities across industries worldwide.
Career Connect Portal: This platform lists graduate roles, internships, and opportunities tailored to MBA students, making it easier to explore and apply for positions that match your skills.
Global Alumni Network & Industry Links: Join a community of over 15,000 MBA alumni, attend networking events, and connect with professionals in companies ranging from start-ups to multinational firms.
Hands-On Projects Leading to Careers: Real-company projects, like the company-based dissertation, often lead directly to job offers. Many past students have turned these experiences into positions with companies like B. Braun Medical.
Accreditation & Long-Term Value: With Triple Crown accreditation (AMBA, EQUIS, AACSB) plus CMI and CIMA, your MBA is recognised globally and carries strong credibility for long-term career growth.
Further Academic Progression:
If you want to continue learning, the Sheffield MBA also sets you up for further academic study, such as a PhD in Management.
