MSc Business Analytics with Placement

2 Years On Campus Masters Program

University of Kent

Program Overview

The MSc Business Analytics with Placement at Kent Business School is designed to turn you into a confident, data-savvy problem solver. You’ll learn how to make sense of complex business data, spot trends, and turn insights into real decisions, all while gaining hands-on experience that employers really value. Whether you’re new to analytics or already have some experience, this program gives you the technical skills and practical know-how to stand out in today’s data-driven business world.

Curriculum Structure

Stage 1 – Core Learning & Analytics Foundations
In your first year, you’ll get to grips with the tools and techniques that power modern business decisions. Modules like Big Data Analytics and Visualisation teach you Python, SQL, and AI-driven analysis, while Simulation Modelling helps you understand how complex business systems behave in real life. You’ll also work on Spreadsheet Modelling and Decision Automation and Prescriptive Analytics and Decision Optimisation, giving you the practical skills to solve real business challenges efficiently and confidently.

Stage 2 – Industry Placement or Capstone Project
The second stage is all about putting your skills into action. Through a Professional Placement/Internship, you’ll spend 39–44 weeks working in a real company, gaining professional experience, and learning how business really works. If you prefer, you can take the Business Analytics Challenge, a consultancy-style project where you solve real problems for partner businesses. In either case, you’ll reflect on your learning, write reports, and graduate with both experience and confidence — ready to impress employers.
