MSc International Human Resource Management

1 Year On Campus Masters Program

University of Strathclyde

Program Overview

This master’s program prepares you to manage people across borders, equipping you with the skills to lead HR strategy in multinational organisations. It suits graduates from business, management, social sciences, or related fields who want to pursue careers in global HR, employment relations, or international consultancy.

Curriculum Structure

Semester 1
You’ll begin with the foundations of international HR practice and organisational behaviour. International HRM in a Comparative Context introduces global HR strategies and cross-cultural management, while Contemporary Employment Relations examines developments in employee relations across different countries. Alongside these, Business Skills builds practical capabilities in leadership, communication, and reflective practice aligned to the CIPD Profession Map.

Semester 2
The focus shifts to strategic HR and people management in international contexts. In Leading, Managing and Developing People, you’ll critically examine HRM and HRD practices for building effective and healthy workforces across borders. Employee Reward introduces pay and reward strategies in global organisations, while Critical Issues in HRM engages with emerging challenges such as globalisation, diversity, and technological change. You’ll also study People Resourcing and Research Methods, preparing you to analyse HR issues and design evidence-based solutions.

Integrated Dissertation & Research Report (IDRR)
During the summer, you’ll undertake an Integrated Dissertation and Research Report, often linked to an 8–10 week placement within an organisation. This project allows you to investigate a live HR issue in an international context, apply research methods, and deliver practical recommendations — a powerful way to showcase your skills to employers worldwide.
