MBA Marketing Management (with Placement)

2 Year On Campus Masters Program

University of Greenwich

Program Overview

The MBA Marketing Management (with Placement) at Greenwich is designed for people who want to step confidently into leadership roles in marketing and business. It blends advanced marketing knowledge with practical, real-world experience, so you graduate with both the theory and the hands-on skills employers look for.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1

Your first year lays the groundwork for becoming a well-rounded marketing leader. You’ll explore how modern businesses operate globally through Dynamics of Global Business and Practices, while modules like Branding, Digital Marketing, and Customer Relationship Management in the Digital Age help you understand how brands grow and how customers behave. You’ll also build your analytical and strategic skills through International Data Analytics, Strategic Management and Leadership, and Financial Resource Management, making sure you can make smart, data-driven decisions in any business setting.

Year 2 (Placement + Projects)

Your second year is all about applying what you’ve learned in the real world. You’ll work full-time during your Work-Based Project (60 credits), gaining industry experience and building your CV while studying. Alongside this, the Business Consultancy Project (30 credits) lets you tackle real business challenges, giving you the chance to practise problem-solving and deliver practical solutions to an organisation.

  • With both academic depth and hands-on placement experience, graduates stand out for roles in marketing management, brand strategy, consultancy, and wider business leadership.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

What really makes the MBA Marketing Management (with Placement) at Greenwich stand out is how much real-world experience you gain while you study. Instead of just learning theories in a classroom, you’ll spend your time working on live projects, practising with industry-level tools, and eventually stepping into a full marketing role during your placement year. It’s designed to give you the confidence, skills, and portfolio that employers actively look for in MBA graduates.

And once you’re on campus, you’ll notice how hands-on the learning truly is — from teamwork inside the Digital Marketing Suite to real consulting challenges that mirror the pace of modern organisations. Here’s how all of this comes together in your training:

  • Digital Marketing Suite with modern, agency-style setup: You’ll work in a dedicated Digital Marketing Suite that mirrors a real marketing agency. This space uses interactive Mersive technology so you can share work instantly, brainstorm campaigns, and collaborate with your group just like a professional digital team.

  • Full placement year (40–46 weeks): In your second year, you’ll step into a full-time marketing or business role for almost a year. It’s your chance to apply everything you’ve learned, build real experience, and grow your network — whether you choose a UK company or an international placement.

  • Business consultancy project: During the taught year, you’ll tackle a consultancy assignment that involves analysing real business issues — giving you strategic experience and problem-solving practice you can talk about in interviews.

  • Access to Greenwich libraries & digital research tools: For coursework, reports, and consulting tasks, you’ll have access to high-quality academic resources, databases, and research tools to support your professional projects.

  • Career support for placements and graduate roles: From CV reviews and interview prep to employer events and placement fairs, the university’s employability team actively supports you throughout your job search and placement year.

Progression & Future Opportunities

When you finish the MBA Marketing Management (with Placement), you’ll step into the job market with something employers genuinely value: a respected MBA plus nearly a year of real industry experience. This combination puts you in a strong position for roles where you can shape marketing strategy, lead teams, and influence brand decisions. Graduates typically move into roles such as Marketing Manager, Brand Manager, Digital Marketing Strategist, or Marketing Consultant across a range of industries.

And to help you get there, the university gives you plenty of practical support and strong industry exposure:

  • A full 40–46-week placement that lets you apply everything you learn in real business settings — and start building your professional network long before graduation.

  • Career and Employability Services that stick with you beyond your studies, offering CV guidance, interview preparation, employer events, and placement fairs.

  • A well-recognised MBA backed by Greenwich Business School’s specialist facilities, including digital marketing resources that give your qualification real workplace relevance.

  • Career pathways across multiple sectors, since the course covers branding, digital marketing, analytics, leadership, and strategy — skills needed in retail, tech, consultancy, services, and more.

  • Strong teaching reputation, with the University of Greenwich holding a Gold rating in the UK TEF (2023) — a signal of excellent teaching and strong student outcomes.

Further Academic Progression:

If you decide to continue your studies after the MBA, you can move into further specialist professional certifications, undertake advanced leadership or management qualifications, or even consider a research route if you’re interested in consultancy or academic work. Your MBA plus placement experience also provides a strong foundation if you eventually want to launch your own marketing-focused business or agency.
