The MSc Marketing at Manchester is designed to give you a strong foundation in core marketing principles, consumer insight, and data-driven research, while also allowing you to specialise in areas that match your career goals. It’s perfect for anyone aiming to build a career in brand management, B2B marketing, retail, digital marketing, or even sustainable services.

Curriculum Structure

Semester 1 (Foundations):
You’ll start by exploring Fundamentals of Marketing Management (BMAN73991), learning how marketing works across different industries. Alongside this, Marketing Implementation and Strategy (BMAN74011) shows you how to design and execute marketing plans, and Quantitative Marketing Research in the Digital Age (BMAN74021) builds your skills in research, data collection, and analysis — essential for making smart marketing decisions.

Semester 2 (Specialisation):
In the second semester, you can choose electives that suit your interests, such as Business to Business Marketing (BMAN70152), Retail Marketing (BMAN70172), Services Marketing: Customer Experiences and Digital Interactions (BMAN70252), International Marketing (BMAN70402), Digital Business (BMAN71702), or Marketing Analytics (BMAN74042). This allows you to focus on the marketing areas you’re most passionate about.

Final Stage (Capstone):
You’ll wrap up the programme with a 60-credit capstone. You can either complete a Dissertation (BMAN72270) to research a topic of your choice in depth, or take part in a Group Business Case Project (BMAN73890), working in teams to solve real marketing challenges — giving you practical experience that employers value.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

At Manchester, the MSc Marketing isn’t just about sitting in lectures — it’s designed so you can actually apply what you learn to real-world business challenges. You’ll gain hands-on experience through group projects, business-case challenges, and either a dissertation or a practical consultancy-style project.
