Program Overview

The MSc Marketing at the University of Nottingham is designed to give you both the creative and analytical skills you need to thrive in today’s fast-changing marketing world. Whether you’re aiming for brand management, digital marketing, or strategic consultancy, this programme helps you understand what drives consumers, how to craft powerful campaigns, and how to turn insights into real business results.

Curriculum Structure

The programme is structured to build your knowledge step by step, from core theory to applied projects:

  • Semester One: You’ll get to grips with Consumer Behaviour and Analytics, understanding why people buy what they do, and Marketing Management in the Digital Economy, which explores brand strategy, pricing, communications, and sustainable marketing in a global context. You’ll also tackle Marketing Strategy, where you put your thinking into practice with market simulations and data-driven decision making.

  • Semester Two: This term digs deeper into the bigger picture. Critical Marketing challenges you to consider ethics, culture, and sustainability in marketing, while Research Methods in Marketing gives you hands-on experience in surveys, interviews, and statistical analysis, preparing you for your final project.

  • Summer Term: You’ll complete either an Applied Marketing Project, working on a real business brief to solve a live marketing problem, or a Marketing Dissertation, conducting independent, in-depth research. You’ll also choose two optional modules to match your career interests, like Branding and Marketing Communications, B2B Marketing, Digital Marketing, or Sales Management & Negotiations.
