MSc Management

1 Year On Campus Masters Program

University of Lincoln

Program Overview

The MSc Management at the University of Lincoln is designed to help you step confidently into modern business roles by strengthening your leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making abilities. It’s a versatile programme that suits graduates from any discipline who want to launch or accelerate their career in management.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1 (Core Master’s Study)
You begin the year by building a strong foundation in essential business skills. Through modules such as Data Analytics and AI in Business, Decision Analysis for Managers, and Finance for Business Management, you’ll learn how organisations use data to make informed decisions, how to evaluate complex managerial challenges, and how financial principles guide strategic choices. You’ll also explore International Marketing Planning and Developing Entrepreneurial Capability and Mindset, helping you understand global markets while nurturing your own innovative thinking.

Year 1 (Leadership, Strategy & Independent Project)
As the year progresses, the focus shifts to becoming an effective leader and strategic thinker. In Leadership Development and Strategy in Context, you’ll analyse how organisations compete, grow, and respond to changing environments. The Research Methods module prepares you for your final Independent Project (Pathways), where you’ll design a substantial piece of work — whether a consultancy project, start-up concept, or applied research study — that brings all your learning together in a real-world context.

Focus areas: Strategic management, leadership and team development, data-driven decision-making, international marketing, financial management, entrepreneurship, and applied research.

Learning outcomes: The programme builds your ability to evaluate business environments critically, apply advanced leadership and analytical skills, use data to inform decisions, and deliver an independent professional project that showcases your managerial capability.

Professional alignment (accreditation): The University of Lincoln’s Business School is a member of AACSB, reflecting its commitment to high-quality, globally relevant business education.

Reputation (employability rankings): Lincoln is recognised among the top universities in the UK for supporting student start-ups, demonstrating its strong focus on enterprise, innovation, and employability.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

One of the strengths of the MSc Management at Lincoln is how practical and hands-on the experience feels from the moment you begin. Rather than learning about management only in theory, you’ll spend a lot of time working on real scenarios, taking part in interactive workshops, and developing the confidence to make decisions the way managers do in industry. You’ll be based at the University’s modern Brayford Pool campus, where collaborative classrooms, specialist business spaces, and supportive academic staff help you turn ideas into meaningful outcomes.

Here’s how the programme brings learning to life and gives you space to practise your skills:

  • Group-based leadership and teamwork activities, including an activity-focused leadership development exercise that lets you apply communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills in real-world situations.

  • A substantial Independent Project, where you can design a consultancy task, develop a business concept, or carry out applied organisational research — giving you genuine experience in managing a practical business challenge.

  • Workshops, case studies, simulations, and debates embedded throughout the curriculum to help you practise decision-making, strategic thinking, and persuasive communication.

  • Insights from industry-experienced staff and guest speakers, bringing you up close to real business challenges and current professional expectations.

  • Access to dedicated study and collaboration areas within Lincoln International Business School, designed to support group work, presentations, and project planning.

  • Full use of the University Library, offering extensive digital and physical resources to support your research and independent project.

  • Careers & Employability support, including help with applications, interview preparation, and guidance that can link you to internships or work opportunities.
