The MSc Cloud and Enterprise Computing at NTU is a one-year full-time (or two-year with placement/part-time) programme for graduates in computing or related fields. It teaches you how to design, build and manage intelligent enterprise systems using cloud infrastructures, service-oriented architectures, plus how to handle security and enterprise-scale challenges.
Curriculum Structure:
You study modules like Advanced Software Engineering, Enterprise and Cloud Systems Management, Service-Oriented Cloud Technologies, Network and Cloud Security, Research Methods, and Entrepreneurial Leadership and Project Management. These build skills in software engineering, cloud infrastructure design, SOA service deployment, managing security risks in cloud networks, and business/project leadership. In the final phase you complete a Major Project (60 credits), choosing a specific topic in cloud or enterprise computing. This lets you integrate what you’ve learned into solving a real-world problem in your chosen specialism.
Focus areas
“Cloud Systems; Enterprise Information Systems; SOA; Software Engineering; Cloud Security; Leadership & Project Management; Major Cloud Project”
Learning outcomes
“Design and deploy enterprise cloud solutions; build secure distributed systems; manage transitions to cloud infrastructure; lead and manage cloud-oriented projects; complete a specialist research or implementation project”
Professional alignment (accreditation):
The course is built with employer feedback, offers a placement option, and is delivered at a TEF “Gold” university.
Reputation (employability rankings):
In REF 2021, 80 % of NTU’s Computer Science research was judged “world-leading or internationally excellent”.
This programme is intensely practical, focusing on developing hands-on skills in designing, deploying, and managing enterprise-scale cloud infrastructure. You will work with industry-leading cloud platforms and virtualization technologies in NTU's dedicated computing labs, gaining real-world experience with the tools that power modern businesses. This applied approach is central to the curriculum and is delivered through:
Specialist Cloud and Virtualization Labs: You will have access to NTU's High-Performance Computing Lab and Networking Lab, which are equipped with enterprise-grade servers and virtualization infrastructure for building and testing complex cloud environments.
Industry-Standard Cloud Platforms: The curriculum involves hands-on work with major cloud providers including Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure, along with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
Enterprise Systems Management: You will gain practical experience with VMware vSphere for virtualization management and Microsoft Windows Server for enterprise system administration.
Substantial Individual Project: A core component is a significant research project where you will design and implement a sophisticated cloud-based enterprise solution, addressing real-world business challenges.
Practical, Scenario-Based Modules: Learning is reinforced through hands-on coursework that includes building scalable cloud architectures, implementing DevOps pipelines, and configuring enterprise network services.
