The Cross-Cultural Communication and Applied Linguistics MA provides theoretical, research and practical training in areas of international and intercultural communication. It also provides training on the analysis of language in use, in a variety of settings and on the teaching and learning of English as a second language. The Applied Linguistics Pathway is a specialism on the Cross-Cultural Communication MA. It is designed for students who wish to combine the study of cross-cultural communication (CCC) with the study of language as it is used in a wide range of settings. If you are interested in gaining knowledge and expertise in the new approaches and techniques for teaching English as a second or foreign language you would also benefit from this course.
A 2:1 honours degree, or international equivalent, in the following disciplines: Anthropology, Communication, Ethnography, Intercultural Communication, International Relations, Linguistics, Philosophy, Psychology, Politics, Social Anthropology, Social Psychology, Sociology, TESOL, Modern Foreign Languages, Translation. IELTS 6.5 overall (with a minimum of 6.5 in writing, and 5.5 in all other sub-skills).
