Program Overview

The MPhil programme in Aramaic studies is offered as a one-year programme which aims to give graduate students an opportunity to develop their analytical, research and writing skills in preparation for further academic research or entry to professions requiring such skills. This MPhil programme is taken by dissertation only. This entails working closely with one supervisor throughout the year on a 25,000-word dissertation to be submitted in mid-August. At the end of the MPhil programme, students will be expected to have acquired the ability to read, interpret and translate primary sources in Aramaic.

Additional Information & Requirements

High 2:1 or a 1st at BA level from a UK university or equivalent, Good reading knowledge of Aramaic and Hebrew (oral and written) will be expected, IELTS of 7.5, TOEFL ibT of 110, CAE Grade A or B with at least 193 in each individual element, CPE Grade A, B, or C with at least 200 in each individual element, Two academic references, Transcript, Research proposal, Sample of work, Asian and Middle Eastern Studies - language attainments
