Global MBA

12 Months On Campus Masters Program

University of Abertay Dundee

Program Overview

Abertay’s Global MBA is built for ambitious professionals who want to lead with confidence in an increasingly international business world. The program blends essential management skills with a global perspective, helping you understand how organisations operate, grow, and adapt across different markets.

Curriculum Structure

Early Stage of the Programme
You’ll start by strengthening your leadership and people-management abilities through modules like Global People Management (MBA501), where you explore how organisations manage staff, tackle HR challenges, and deal with workplace issues across different countries. At the same time, Leadership in a Changing Environment (MBA502) gives you the tools to lead teams through change, uncertainty, and organisational transformation.

You’ll also develop practical project-handling skills with Project Management (MBA530), learning how to manage budgets, risks and stakeholders while bringing projects to successful completion.

Business, Strategy & Marketing Focus
As you move forward, you’ll dive deeper into how global businesses compete and grow. Strategy and Management (MBA507) builds your understanding of competitive strategy, organisational performance and long-term planning. Alongside this, Contemporary Issues in Marketing (BMT503) helps you understand today’s fast-moving marketing environment, from digital trends to shifting consumer behaviour. With Sustainable Business (MBA506), you'll explore how sustainability, ethics and responsibility shape modern business decisions.

Finance, Data & Research Skills
The programme also strengthens your analytical abilities. Through modules like Budgeting and Financial Control (MBA510) and Data for Decision Making (BMT511), you’ll learn to make well-supported financial and data-driven decisions. You’ll also build strong research and investigative skills in Business Research Methods (MBA514), preparing you for more advanced work.

Capstone Stage
In the final phase, you’ll complete a Research Proposal (MBA512) and apply everything you’ve learned in your Management Investigation (MBA555). This major project — often linked to your professional interests or workplace — allows you to solve a real business problem or conduct meaningful research that can directly strengthen your career profile.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

What makes the Global MBA at Abertay stand out is how practical and applied the learning experience is. You won’t just sit through lectures — you’ll work on real business challenges, collaborate with peers, and use modern digital tools that mirror today’s global workplace. The program is delivered through a blend of on-campus sessions and interactive online learning, giving you the best of both worlds while keeping everything rooted in real managerial practice. You’ll also have access to the university’s dedicated Graduate School, a supportive space where postgraduate students work, research and develop skills together.

Here’s how that practical learning experience comes to life:

  • Real business cases & teamwork: Many modules use international case studies, simulations and group tasks, helping you practise strategic decision-making, problem-solving, and people leadership in realistic scenarios.

  • Consultancy-style final project: Your final Management Investigation gives you the chance to solve a real problem — either by working with an external business partner or by investigating an issue from your own workplace. It’s a major, portfolio-ready piece of work that shows employers you can operate at a professional level.

  • Interactive learning environment: The mix of face-to-face lectures, tutorials, online sessions and peer discussions means you’ll constantly apply ideas — not just memorize them — and learn from classmates with different professional backgrounds.

  • Access to Abertay’s digital tools: As Scotland’s first Adobe Creative Campus, Abertay gives every student access to tools like Adobe Express, helping you design professional-quality presentations, reports and digital materials that elevate your communication skills.

  • Support from Abertay’s Graduate School: This dedicated postgraduate hub gives you space for research, collaboration, skills development workshops and academic support — ideal for planning your dissertation or consultancy project.
