Founded in 1888 as Dundee Institute of Technology, the University of Abertay Dundee is a public university located in the city of Dundee, Scotland. Abertay was the first University in the world to offer a computer games degree, and the first in the UK to be recognized as a Centre for Excellence in Computer Games Education. It was also the first university to offer a degree in Ethical Hacking. Dundee is often described as a young city as 1 in every 5 people is a student.

The university offers various degree programs across four teaching schools such as School of Arts, Media and Computer Games; Dundee Business School; School of Science, Engineering & Technology and School of Social & Health Sciences. The research at the university is organized into four main themes like Creative Industries, Environment, Security and Society. The most popular majors at the university are computer games technology, computer arts, forensic science, bioinformatics, and business. University of Abertay has accreditations from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants; Association of International Accountants; Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development; Health Professions Council and Forensic Science Society.
