Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

The Cambridge MBA isn’t just about lectures — it’s about rolling up your sleeves and tackling real business challenges from day one. You’ll work closely with diverse, ambitious peers on projects for real companies, gaining leadership, teamwork, and decision-making skills that textbooks alone can’t teach. On top of that, you’ll have access to Cambridge Judge’s research centres, student clubs, and the wider University resources, so your learning extends well beyond the classroom. Here’s how you’ll get hands-on experience:

  • Live-client team projects:

    • The Cambridge Venture Project (CVP) has you working in small teams to help start-ups or early-stage ventures with market analysis, strategy, or business plans — a real taste of entrepreneurship.

    • The Global Consulting Project (GCP) lets you consult for multinational companies, solving real business problems and presenting actionable solutions — a highlight for many MBA students.

  • Specialist Concentration & Board-style Project:
In your third term, you pick a focus area like Entrepreneurship, Digital Business, Sustainable Business, or Finance. You’ll then tackle a Concentration Project, simulating real boardroom decisions and giving you deeper domain expertise.

  • Summer-term options:
Apply your learning in ways that suit your career goals: take on a work placement or internship, complete an individual consulting project, write a research paper, join a case-writing workshop, attend a Lean Six Sigma course, or go on an international business study trip.

  • Cambridge’s entrepreneurial and research ecosystem:
You’ll have access to research centres, student-led clubs, and networks that let you explore interests, collaborate on ventures, and gain mentorship — all helping you bring your ideas to life.

  • Global and cross-cultural exposure:
With peers from around the world, every project is a chance to work in diverse teams and develop a global perspective. Optional international study trips give you first-hand insight into business across cultures.
