Program Overview

The course is made up of five main modules that cover various aspects of criminology, including modern theories, methods, issues and debates, and psychological approaches to understanding and managing criminal behavior. Students can then select one optional module from a list that includes topics such as criminal justice institutions, community safety, drug use, youth and adult criminal behavior, and comparative perspectives.

The modules address different types of crimes, including white-collar crime, state crime, cybercrime, sexual and violent offenses, discrimination and hate crimes, drug offenses, terrorism, and policing. Students have access to computer labs and can develop skills in information retrieval and data analysis using SPSS and NVivo software. Additionally, all students complete a research project of 15,000 words on a topic of their choosing, drawing on criminological and psychological perspectives and with the guidance of a faculty member.
