This MSc is built for students who want to combine rigorous economic analysis with cutting-edge data science. You’ll learn to apply economic theory using programming, machine learning, and data visualisation — ideal for careers in policy, finance, tech, or research.


Curriculum Structure

Autumn Term (Core Foundations):
You’ll begin with a strong foundation in economic theory and quantitative methods. Modules include Analytical Methods in Economics, Microeconomic Analysis, Econometric Methods 1, and Programming. These build your ability to model economic problems, interpret data, and write code to solve real-world challenges.

Spring Term (Advanced Applications):
This term focuses on macroeconomic policy and advanced data science techniques. You’ll study Econometric Methods 2, Macroeconomic Analysis, Data Processing, Coding and Visualisation, and Machine Learning. These modules prepare you to analyse large datasets, build predictive models, and communicate insights effectively.

Summer Term (Dissertation):
You’ll complete a dissertation in economics, applying your skills to a complex problem with real-world implications. You’ll also have the opportunity to work on paid projects with UK employers, gaining experience in teamwork, client communication, and project delivery.
