Program Overview

This MSc equips students with the analytical and practical skills to understand, design, and evaluate public policy in a global context. It suits graduates aiming for careers in government, NGOs, international organisations, or consultancy, offering rigorous training in political science, policy analysis, and research methods.


Curriculum Structure

Year 1 (Full-time, one year only)

In the first term, you’ll establish a strong foundation with compulsory modules such as International Public Policy, Theories and Institutions of Public Policy, and Policy-Making and Regulation in Europe. These courses introduce you to the complexities of policy-making across different political systems and the role of international institutions in shaping governance.

In the second term, you’ll deepen your expertise with methods training in modules like Qualitative Methods: Case Studies and Comparative Analysis and Causal Inference, alongside optional courses tailored to your interests (for example, Global Security Policy or International Political Economy). This stage emphasises applied learning, comparative case studies, and methodological rigour.

The year culminates in a dissertation, where you conduct independent research on a public policy issue of your choice, applying theoretical and empirical training to a substantive global challenge.
