This MSc is designed for students who want to understand and manage development processes in diverse contexts, combining theory with applied practice. Curriculum Structure

Year 1 (Full-time, one year only)

In the first term, you’ll establish a strong foundation through core modules such as Development in Practice, Development Administration and Planning, and Development and Urbanisation. These courses introduce you to the complexities of governance, institutional reform, and the challenges of planning in rapidly changing societies.

In the second term, you’ll deepen your expertise with specialist modules like Political Economy of Development and Development in Practice II, alongside optional courses tailored to your interests (for example, Urban Development Planning or Disaster Risk Reduction and Response). This stage emphasises applied learning, case studies, and comparative analysis.

The year culminates in a dissertation, where you design and conduct an independent research project under supervision, applying methodological training to a substantive issue in development administration and planning.
