Program Overview

The MSc Social Psychology at the University of Kent explores how individuals and groups think, feel, and behave in social contexts, and how psychological science can address real-world social challenges. This programme suits graduates interested in research, consulting, policy-making or further doctoral study who wish to develop advanced social-psychological knowledge and research skills. 

Curriculum structure:
In the first phase, students deepen their understanding of methodology and theory through modules such as Advanced Research Methods and Statistics and Social Psychology: Theoretical Approaches and Current Debates, where they refine analytical, critical and statistical expertise. 
In the second phase, emphasis shifts toward application as students undertake Social Psychology: Understanding and Addressing Social Problems and must complete Solving Social and Organisational Problems, applying theory to organisational or community consulting interventions.
Finally, the programme culminates with the Advanced Research Project (dissertation) where students design, conduct and present an original empirical study that integrates theory, method and application.
