The Master of Music degree program with a jazz studies specialization focuses on individual jazz instruction, improvisation, ensemble work, history and pedagogy. You will further develop professional-level skills with an emphasis on the art of jazz and the professional side of being a studio musician. Our MM program provides you with a wide range of academically rigorous and inspiring courses, high-level solo performing and ensemble opportunities, and personal attention from distinguished faculty.
A U.S. bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree or its equivalent from an accredited college or university. Official transcripts. GPA: A minimum of 2.5 on a scale of 4.0 TOEFL iBT: 80 or IELTS 6.5 overall. Students will be required to audition on their applied instrument or voice. Submit three scores of original compositions or arrangements as follows: Bebop or contemporary bop style Latin, fusion, or ballad style Pop or commercial style
