University of Memphis History

University of Memphis was established in 1912 and is located Memphis, Tennessee. The General Education Bill demanded three colleges be established for the grand division and the African American students. Memphis was chosen as one of the locations as the rail line to the proposed location was approved as well.

University of Memphis offers Bachelors, Masters and doctoral courses across various colleges namely College of Arts and Sciences, Fogelman College of Business and Economics, College of Communication and Fine Arts, College of Education, Herff College of Engineering, College of Professional and Liberal Studies, Loewenberg College of Nursing, Kemmons Wilson School of Hospitality and Resort Management, School of Communication Sciences and Disorders, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, Graduate School, School of Public Health and Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music and Helen Hardin Honors College.

University of Memphis comprises of four campuses, the main campus, Park Avenue Campus, Downtown Law School Campus and the Lambuth Campus. The campuses are built with an extremely large green space and walkways preserving the historic architecture.
