Program Overview

Duke University's Master of Environmental Management (MEM) with a concentration in Business and Environment prepares students to apply business principles and management strategies to environmental and sustainability challenges. The programme is suited to students who want to work at the intersection of business, environmental management and sustainability, developing the skills to help organisations improve environmental performance, build sustainable business strategies and evaluate the financial and commercial implications of environmental decisions.

Programme Classification Note: Business and Environment is a management concentration within Duke's MEM degree, not a separate master's degree. Students also select an environment concentration as part of the MEM structure.

Curriculum Structure

The on-campus MEM generally requires at least 48 credit hours and is designed as a two-year professional master's programme. Students combine environmental science, management, applied methods and concentration courses, along with a required Master's Project.
