University of Massachusetts Lowell

Program Overview

Bioinformatics is the study of information contained within biological, chemical or medical systems. Although initially associated with the analysis of genetic data produced in sequencing the human genome, bioinformatics methods are now used in a wide variety of fields including basic science, biotechnology, medicine, pharmaceutical development and public health. The program provides even greater flexibility at the doctoral level, where the students can create a Bio/Cheminformatics program tailored to their individual interests and background.
