NLU's Reading Program is for educators seeking an in-depth understanding of the research, theory, and practice related to reading and writing processes and expertise in literacy assessment and instruction. Through coursework, practicum experiences, and study with peers and faculty, students in NLU's Reading program gain a dynamic repertoire of strategies to enhance literacy for all learners. Our program prepares reading teachers and reading specialists for school-wide and district-wide literacy leadership roles that advance equitable learning outcomes, strengthen curriculum, shape policy, and improve instructional practice.
