Program Overview

The M.Ed. or Ed.S. in Educational Leadership is for individuals who want to take on leadership roles in a variety of educational settings, including PK-12 schools and education focused organizations, nonprofit organizations, museums, and corporate learning. Through coursework and field-based learning, you will build on your knowledge and experience and gain school leadership and management skills that will position you for career advancement.

This program prepares exceptional leaders who understand the complex issues that shape education and foster high levels of achievement. Blending research and pedagogy with realistic and relevant problems of practice, the curriculum will prepare you to effectively navigate the challenges of contemporary schools and workplaces, guide instruction that serves diverse populations, design improvement plans aligned to system-level objectives and strategies, evaluate financial operations, and drive data-informed decision making.

Application A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution must be verified. Official transcripts. GPA: A minimum of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0 TOEFL iBT: 80 or IELTS 6.5 overall, no sub-score lower than 6.0 List of 3 References, including name, title and contacto information, waived for applicants with a 3.0 or higher GPA NCE Graduate Admission Essay Faculty Review or interview may be required   Educational Leadership (licensure) track (IL): Official letter of recommendation, from the principal or Human Resources, verifying at least two years of teaching experience (four years teaching in a public or non- public school recognized by ISBE is required prior to endorsement). Faculty interview In addition to an on-site written response, candidates must also submit a portfolio during the interview  Strategic Educational Leadership (non-licensure) track: Submit official transcripts from all degrees earned  Educational Leadership (licensure) track (FL): Two years of teaching experience (FL) Copy of teaching license (FL) Official letter of recommendation, signed and sealed by the writer. o Written Statement General School Leadership (non-licensure) track (FL, IL): Official letter of recommendation Signed Licensure Limitation Form Written Statement Faculty Review
