Program Overview

The MAT degree is intended for those holding a bachelor s degree in mathematics or other field with a strong mathematics background. The degree is designed to lead to certification for teaching mathematics in grades 6-12 in Georgia at the T5 level. The program combines a depth of study of mathematics with the study of mathematics education, educational psychology, and research. The program requires 36 hours of coursework, 10 hours of student teaching or internship (for a total of 46 hours), and a written comprehensive examination.
