Program Overview

The mathematics teaching master s degree is open to presently employed secondary and community college mathematics teachers. You ll attend courses online during the academic year, interacting face-to-face and in real time with faculty and classmates via our synchronous online platform. Summer classes include a four-week online course and two four-week on-campus courses at UNC. The program includes 18 credit hours of advanced mathematics, nine credit hours of pedagogy, and a three-hour master s project. Focus your master s project either on action-based research (by studying some aspect of how you teach mathematics ) or advanced mathematics (solving a challenging problem and applying the lessons learned into your current class).

Official transcripts, mark sheets, graduation certificates and degree certificates from all colleges/universities attended, Graduate applicants are expected to meet a 3.0 GPA equivalent, TOEFL iBT: 80 with cut scores no lower than: Listening (16), Reading (16), Speaking (20) and Writing (22), IELTS: 6.5 with subscores no lower than 6 in each of the following proficiency areas: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. GRE scores, Statement of Purpose, Letters of Recommendation, Supplemental Data Form, Audition or Interview
