M.S Applied Ecology

2 Years On Campus Masters Program

State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry

Program Overview

Applied ecology is the science of the application of ecology to contemporary problems in managing our natural resources. The topic has two broad themes, the first concerns the interests of humans, such as in food, shelter, and health, and the second theme concerns the nonconsumptive use of the biota such as for recreation and tourism. Applied ecology draws concepts and ideas from the science of ecology and these are brought to bear on policy setting, decision making, and practice. The directions of the discipline are driven by the problems given priority by society.
